Lately, I have upgraded to the latest released wordpress version 2.7 named “Coltrane“. I have been testing the system and I’m trying to report the bugs I find to the wordpress team, trying to solve them. I have found till now two bugs:
The WYSIWYG editor is messed up when using a plugin named “TinyMCE Advanced”, it replaces the classic wordpress WYSIWYG editor with a more advanced one, very close to Open Office’s writer’s, with the option to cutomize it and add new buttons and place them wherever you want.
Default view using TinyMCE Advanced Plugin
After clicking the Visual Tab
The second bug is found on the Comments page - accessed via the Comments button in the left menu -, I found my emoticons listed on a box there in a very strange place, check the next screen shot.
Wordpress 2.7, Comments' page bug
So, I will be reporting bugs I find, if you got any, let’s start to help the great team behind this mighty system. I will be posting solutions or tweaks I may find to solve bugs we find.
John Coltrane, is a JAZZ artist, and his name was chosen to be Wordpress 2.7 latest release, Coltrane. Coltrane inspired many other generations of artists with his music, and I really like this version of wordpress to be called after this inspiring artist.
As usual, wordpress team has prepared a Showcast for the last release, you will find AWESOME and really great stuff there that will let you wonder, is that wordpress?
They have been working, I really LOVE the new features, all with single clicks :). In the beginning of this year, they amazed us with the new 2.5 style, and now they have just proved how flexible they can make this stuff look like. I will be waiting for this release, I think it will ROCK any other blogging tool.
P.S: You may would like to youtube John Coltrane, if you are JAZZ fan :).
Today, the Fedora project announced the tenth release of the mighty operating system Fedora: Fedora 10. I haven’t seen a code name for this distro, after the last Sulpher. It seems that redhat is hearing my problems and just trying to solve them, that really appeared in the Release Notes. I just got astonished when I read:
There is also the ability to turn-off the Bluetooth adapter on most brands of laptops through the preferences.
That was actually a problem in Fedora 8, the distro I’m still using, but I have solved it using Omnibook which fits my laptop hardware profile greatly. Also what’s really amazing that they announced that they have enhanced the startup process, better and faster. A lot of other features announced and accepted. Some screen shots can be found here.
I didn’t give it a try yet, I should be sure that it’s stable as I had bad feedback on Sulpher, so let’s wait and see.
Today Vodafone announced that Apple’s iPhone is now available in their stores, Mobinil did the same announcement with same following prices:
the 8GB iPhone, 3,800EGP
16GB Black and White iPhone, 4,450EGP
The two companies has removed the GPS feature from the phone, which is for me not a major thing, but what really confuses me is that the original price from Apple in USA will reach 1100 in EGP ($200), with all features included and with unlocking the phone it will work normally here, so why did Vodafone and Mobinil made it this way? It really makes me angry how such companies I thought it will reach 2000EGP or something, but not a 1:4 relation. I dunnu if I will buy it this way but mostly I won’t.
Most of you don’t know that Vodafone offerred 1000 Free SMSs for anyone who will charge with any “Card” value in the pilot of this month, the offer was great really, I have no credit now and I’m just using these SMSs. The offer is for August only, so once it’s done, the rest of 1000 SMSs are gone!
I really knew by chance, when I was charging using the 10 EGP valued card, when I have been told that I will have the offer applied to my number in 24 hours, that was on Saturday 02nd of this month. So, I told AnGel, My Mother, Biko and Psycho. AnGel got her card at night I think and she got the offer, but for my mother when she got her card just yesterday, she found that the offer is finished and it won’t apply for any extra numbers. I really got astonished, and I wondered why?!
I even started to think about the offer. I use “kalamna“, in which SMS costs 30 Piasters and a minute from a vodafone to vodafone 20 Piasters and for any other 40 Piasters. So, for me 1000 SMS costs 300 EGP and I think this is the least SMS price in all vodafone systems - “Super Dardasha for example, 39 pt -.
