Vista Tip, Slim Down your HD

Most of you know that I’m not a fan of M$ Windows – actually I’m not a big fan of Microsoft itself -, and after the last 2 nights, my hatred became more and more to this System – My laptop is shipped with Vista Home Premium -. An Operating System that is installed on 13GB! wtf. Let’s story this, when I boaught my laptop, by default the windows partitioned it into 2 partitions each got half of my hard disk. For sure I didn’t accept that and I repartitioned it after Vista finished installation into 20GB Vista, 30GB for my stuff – including 12GB+ of CATReloaded related stuff -, and almost 85GB for anything else, including movies, mp3s, IT Stuff..etc and the rest is for Linux and its swap. I’m working on a project, in which I have to install some programs needed SP1 for Vista, I found that I really need to update the system to install the last one, for that you need free 3GB on the Windows partition which had only 1.5GB. So I started to free-up some space, deleting some other programs, disk cleanups and defragments, when it reached 2GB.
The thing that really astonished me is that I had no major programs installed except Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Sony Vegas, all of them got only 1.5GB or even less, so I started to thing, where did the rest of the 20GBs go? – Dun bother yourself calculating, it should be 7GBs -. I started searching for extra large files and directories, especially in the C:\Windows\ directory. I searched Google, when I found a very interesting article about how to free-up your Vista partition including directories that you remove, to reach a satisfying space if you are really in need for it.
One very interesting directory, was “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\” in which the installation binaries of the updated the system had reside. The shocking thing is that I found this directory’s space 1.3GB which was really a great thing, and I deleted it having more space than what I actually needed. So, if you have any more tips to free-up more space on that thing called vista, just let me know :).

I have a terrific idea…
Just remove it completely!
I use it only for Video editing and for Photoshop, actually most of Adobe Productivity products
Kamasheto is right ….. kick it out of your system
I wish, if Adobe produces a Photoshop version for Linux like they did with MAC
do you know that I once had a windows vista’s Windows folder with a size of 16 GB !!!!
They are kidding aslan, when I downloaded SP1 I found that I need 3GB Free Space, it’s not even 3GB for the binaries and the installation, it’s for the installation only!!
lol .. I’m used to give windows vista 42GB
