Google & Yahoo Crawling

If you have noticed, I have been working on my bLOG’s SEO for some time. To make a crowling web site like Google to know that it’s actually your web site, it needs some work. Stuff related to SEO and your right markup of the website’s content, all which facilitates the job of the crawler (Bot). What really confuses me is that yahoo knows that this is Ibrahim Abdel Fattah and Ibrahim Abdel Fattah Mohamed web site, but google doesn’t. Google actually thinks that my LinkedIn and Facebook pages are the best which describes me. They admit that this is “bingorabbit’s bLOG”, but not Ibrahim Abdel Fattah‘s. I admit that they both of them crawl my site in an ordinary way and they got no troubles – using Google Web Master Tools -, Yahoo and Google bots consider my website another home :D where they resides in most of time.

It’s important to have your website points to your name, not your nickname, I’m bingorabbit. but I’m also Ibrahim Abdel Fattah which is most used in a bussiness environment, that’s why I care about such issue.

    you are right
    google search in website url first
    like my website , if u search “spmmf”
    it will appear
    but not “mmf” or “mohamed mahmoud” :)

    Msn & yahoo are easy to play with , but google need more work from you :)

    The solution is simple. Call the blog “Ibrahim Abdel Fattah’s blog”.

    That should do the trick.

    You can even go further and change your display name to your real name. Since your domain is your nickname, use it very little through your site. I have had the exact opposite problem a while ago — Google knew who Mahmoud Sakr was, but not kamasheto, which was bothering me. How did I solve it? I changed my display name all over my website to kamasheto. That way, everyone’s happy! =D

    @kamasheto: when I tried the first trick, I found that it will be really long title up there, because it will be Ibrahim Abdel Fattah Personal bLOG, which is a bit long, and I dun want it to be Ibrahim A. Mohamed, got me?

    Why do you need personal in the title? o.O Why not just Ibrahim Abdel Fattah’s blog?

    That’s a solution, and about the second solutution, it’s fine, I’m just thinking if it will be Ibrahim or Ibrahim Abdel Fattah. It’s really a confusing thing you know? :D

    LOL, this is the spirit I needed :D, I’m also thinking about the permalinks, it’s better to change it to /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname% , I have some troubles with post names duplication :S

    Dude, I thought you changed that ages ago! It’s not really nice this way aslan.. a2sod ya3ni /%postname% 3ala tol — it just looks like you have million of pages! =S

    You should totally add the year, month — something of.. value! =D

    it’s easier to use them this way, /%postname I mean, but it will be better to change them 3ala shan el duplication. The problem I’m thinking about is the Pages Rank I got on some pages.

    If the redirect is 301, this is ok, and the page ranks will be rechecked and added to the pages in almost 2 week, else they will not be added.

    I think wordpress is smart enough to make this, let’s give it a try :D
